Counselling
"People are just as wonderful as sunsets if you let them be. When I look at a sunset, I don't find myself saying, "Soften the orange a bit on the right hand corner." I don't try to control a sunset. I watch with awe as it unfolds."
— Carl Rogers
Why Counselling?
We all have moments when we need to reflect. Life may feel overwhelming. We may be experiencing trauma, deep loss or grief. Counselling can help at times like these.
The aim of counselling is to help you gain awareness of yourself. In doing so you will be able to make choices which in turn can lead to profound change.
So, if you are dissatisfied with some part of your life, please get in touch so we can see if we can work together to help you make those changes.
What is Counselling?
Counselling is a talking therapy. Its aim is help you find a fresh perspective on your life.
I am impartial and will listen to you without judgement, but with empathy, congruence and unconditional positive regard.
I will not tell you what to do, but I will help you find your own solutions. Counselling is not about a personality transplant; it will help you be a better version of you.
Research suggests that Counselling works because of the Therapeutic Relationship established between counsellor and client. I will work to make you feel safe, supported and heard.
In this way we can explore together the areas of your life that trouble you.
What happens in Counselling?
Initially we will discover if we can work together with a 90 minute introductory session. Here we will establish what it is you want from therapy.
We will have weekly sessions lasting 60 minutes where we will explore you, your life and what concerns you.
Sometimes we may cover some potentially painful areas, I would encourage you to trust in the process.
Am I living in a way which is deeply satisfying to me, and which truly expresses me?
